My name is Ann Marie Hollis. I’m honestly not even sure where to begin. I guess let’s just start at the beginning. I’m seventeen. I’m a high school graduate. I’m hopefully going to be an elementary school teacher. And right now, I’m an Independent Fundamental Baptist missionary’s daughter. For those of you who have no idea what that entails, I’ll soon be putting up a post that describes what it is like to be a missionary’s daughter, but until then I’ll just say this- My family is living in Bolivia, South America and telling people about Jesus. I believe in using only the Authorized King James Version of the Bible (I know a lot of people disagree, but that’s where I stand.) I believe women should wear skirts or dresses that come at least to the knee and that they should wear shirts that cover their shoulder (Also an opinion many people disagree with.) I believe every Christian should try to be as Christ-like as they can possibly be. And that’s why I’m starting this blog.
All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.

Blogging has been a dream of mine for just about as long as I can remember. I’ve always dreamed of blogging about fashion and lifestyle and living that perfect little life all the famous bloggers seem to live. Now, I’ve not started a blog to become famous. I’ve not even started a blog to make money. I’ve started a blog to teach other young women how to live modestly. Not only in the way they dress, but in the way they live their lives.
You see, modesty is not a choice for me. It is a conviction. Some of you may read that and think, “What’s the difference?” The difference is Jesus. I’ll go ahead and say that if you don’t believe in God, you probably won’t want to stick around here. The reason I live my life the way I do is that I’m serving the One who created me. He didn’t create me to be a girl who lives exactly like the world. He didn’t even create me so I could be similar to the world. He created me so I could be different. Peculiar. Set apart. Romans 12:2 says, “And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…” We are told in the God’s Word that we are not to be conformed to this world. I looked up the definition of the word conform and this is it: “to comply with rules or standards.” If we are complying with the standards this world gives us, and those standards are completely opposite what God wants, then we are directly opposing what God wants. I’m sure none of us want to do that.
This world tells us that we need to be like them, to wear skinny jeans, to use vulgar language, to not live a godly life. They tell us we’re weird, abnormal, and not able to do all the things they can do. But let me tell you this, I agree with them. By their standards, we are weird. By their standards, we are abnormal. We definitely can’t do everything they can do, and we shouldn’t want to. God has given us this beautiful outline of what Christian life should look like in His Word, and we should be satisfied only if we’ve given our very best to conform to His Image.
Over the course of my blog, I hope to teach as many young women as I can to live a godly, modest life, while also furthering my own spiritual walk. I hope and pray, for the glory of God, that I can have an influence, even if it’s only on one person. My goal is to be able to help anyone, anyone, to grow in the Lord. It doesn’t matter if you got saved yesterday or if you’ve been saved since you were five. My prayer is that God can use me to touch another young lady’s life, like many of the blogs I’ve read have touched mine.
I’m mainly posting this first article to highlight what I plan on writing about and give a short explanation of a few of my beliefs. This is kind of my “This is me” post. I’m sure that you’ll soon get to know a lot more about me, but for now I think we’re off to a pretty good start.
If there are any topics you would like me to cover, please leave a comment and I’ll get right on it. Stay tuned, because I plan to post again soon. Until then, know that I’m praying for any young lady who stumbles across this blog. Even though facing this world while striving to be modest seems excruciatingly hard, just remember that God is with you and there are others just like you who are praying for you.
Stay modest, ladies!
